THE FIRST SESSION .... what to expect
The first session provides the opportunity for you to find out how I work and determine if I am the right person to work with you – I believe that, regardless of what a therapist's theoretical approach is, if you don’t feel happy working with me, then the rest is purely academic!
When we first meet, it is also the chance for you to find out how the process of counselling works. You may feel nervous and the prospect a little daunting (whether you have had counselling before or not) – that is quite normal and is absolutely OK. It can take time to find your voice and the words to say the things you need to – and that is OK too.
This is also a chance for me to ask you some questions ... about your family, relationships and what brings you to therapy now.
